Contraception

Contraception aims to prevent pregnancy. There are contraceptives for both genders.

The type of contraception we are discussing here does not harm your fertility. Male contraception is the condom – this is a sheath of rubber-like material that is worn over the penis and prevents the deposit of sperm into the vagina. The condom is also the only contraception that prevents most sexually-transmitted diseases as well!

Female contraception either stops ovulation, i.e. the release of eggs from the ovaries, or makes the female reproductive organs not to be receptive to sperm or embryos. Female contraception can be hormone-based, in pills, intrauterine devices, implants that are placed under the skin, vaginal silicone rings, and patches. Female contraception can also be hormone-free, as in the intrauterine coil and the female condom.
